Each year, this organization offers a $2500 scholarship to a local senior who is graduating high school as long as his or her parents are a member or the employee of a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The Buffalo Civic Center, which is located at 1306 Calder Avenue, is available to residents in the area for all types of sporting events. In this multipurpose facility is two ice arenas where hockey tournaments are played as well as areas for craft shows, home and garden shows, banquets and other large events during the off season. With Buffalo Lake and Lake Pulaski within the city limits, there are several lakefront recreational areas to enjoy as a resident of Buffalo, MN. Along the western side of Lake Pulaski is West Pulaski Park off of Highway 25. This popular park offers play areas for kids, a disc golf course, boat docks, picnic areas and the beautiful Nancy Bergert sculpture garden. Sturges Park is located along Buffalo Lake and includes more than 10 acres of recreational opportunities. The bandshell is the most prominent feature of this park which is where many concerts and other special events are held. Parents with school-aged children will appreciate the Buffalo Independent School District #877. This district serves Buffalo students within the city limits unlike some other districts throughout the state. Elementary schools in the district include Discovery Elementary, Hanover Elementary, Montrose Elementary and Tatanka Elementary, among others. Middle schools and high schools include Buffalo Community Middle School and Buffalo High School. St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and the Phoenix Learning Center are also available.
